We will walk and wade or drift remote tributary river of the the Nass valley targeting wild steelhead and coho salmon as a secondary target.

Hot Springs

Deep within Nisga’a Lands, the Hlgu Isgwit Hot Springs offer a place of warmth and reflection. Surrounded by forest and rising mist, the waters flow from the earth as they have for generations. A sacred space where nature and spirit come together in harmony.

Fly Tieing

On your first night, we’ll teach you how to tie your own fly or jig to catch a steelhead the next day. We’ll provide everything you need and help you create an effective pattern while allowing your creativity to shine!

Waterfalls

The Nass area is home to many waterfalls a few of which provide excellent opportunity to see steelhead and coho leaping out of the water as they make a run up the falls.

Tastings

Unwind after a excellent day on the water with a customized wine tasting, beer tasting, and special cocktail hour. A different experience each night.

Foraging

The Nass Valley and nearby Terrace offer a prime spot for harvesting rare wild edible mushrooms like pine mushrooms, chanterelles, hedgehogs, cauliflower mushrooms, lobster mushrooms, and more. The season starts in late August and lasts until mid October or until the first big frosts.

Lava Beds

Take time to explore the unique and otherworldly Nisga’a Lava Beds, located in Nisga’a Memorial Lava Bed Provincial Park. Formed by a volcanic eruption in the 1700s, this landscape features vast fields of hardened lava, forested trails, and incredible views of the surrounding valley.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I pack?

We put together a complete packing list for you. Once you book your trip we will send you all the information you need to prepare.

Do I need my own gear?

Whether its fly fishing gear, or both we supply all the rod, lines, flies, lures etc. You will require chest waders and boots which we can rent you.

What fishing lic do I need ?

You will require a valid BC freshwater fishing license plus steelhead conservation stamp. If you would like to retain coho you will also require salmon conservation stamp. You can obtain a license online or at most major fishing tackle stores.

Will I catch a fish?

Steelhead fishing can be challenging and conditions vary day to day, but our goal is to maximize your opportunities. With experienced guides, proven water, and focused instruction, most guests get quality chances—and many connect with fish.

Do I need prior experience

No prior experience needed. This retreat is built for first-timers, intermediate anglers, or mixed-experience groups. Coaching is adjusted to the individual. We can be as hands on or hands off as you prefer.

How can I get there?

You can get there by air or vehicle travel. For air travel, the easiest option is to fly into Terrace (YXT). There are daily direct flights from Vancouver with travel time around 1.5 hours. The Nass Valley Bed & Breakfast is located about 109 km north of Terrace, BC near New Aiyansh, in the heart of the Nisga’a Nation. If arriving by air we can provide transportation to and from the Terrace airport.
